Roots & Mud is a community organization dedicated to the liberation of all children and families, centering those historically and systematically disempowered. Our purpose is to partner with families of young children navigating the world of disability. Our goals include a commitment to providing educational, therapeutic, and material resources to children, families, and professionals with the support of other community members. 

The roots and mud values emphasize the need for community based services that acknowledge and actively work against oppressive systems. Our radical approach to whole-child development is rooted in disability rights and a child rights perspective.

This requires a practice informed by neurodiversity affirming, trauma-informed, relationship centered and culturally sustaining frameworks. We work to create an inclusive environment that encourages a sense of belonging and safety by fostering strengths-based relationships with all children and families.

Everyone has a right to the support, information, and resources that allow them to participate fully in their child’s development and service provision. Our goal is to increase equitable family-centered care by providing accessible services, workshops, and resources to our community. Connection and progress begin when a compassionate environment is created by respecting and upholding basic rights for all children and families.
